Saved by Screaming

Who can say they like a screaming baby?
Who can say they were saved by their screaming baby?
Me.
(I think he looks like a doll in this picture)

I had been to Sam's and a few other places and it was nearing bed time and being fed time for Miles.
And he is pretty good in the car...but he was SCREAMING, and I was just trying to get home, I had my right arm back holding his binkie in and that wasn't working, not to mention I drive a stick shift so I need my right arm, but I was shifting with my left and steering with my knee and my right arm was holding bink in. So it wasn't working he was at this point SCREAMING at the top of his lungs, and of course I am hitting every light and there is no where really reasonable for me to pull over and I AM almost home. So I turned on the duckie song on my phone and tossed it back there. But it was too late by that point, I saw a SUV police car flip around and follow me. He flipped his lights on and I said a silent prayer and already started to cry. Miles had mellowed to a normal cry, not full on screaming, but I wasn't about to get pulled over with no screaming baby, so I shut the duckie song off as I pulled to the side. Of course he started to scream loud again. The cop asked for my info as Miles was seriously screaming at the top of his lungs.

Is there a reason for your hurry, you were going 52 in a 40. -Cop
Yes (motion through tears to Miles in the back). -Me
Time for bed? - Cop
Yes - Me
How old is he? - Cop
4 Months - Me
Okay well I'm just going to give you a verbal warning tonight. -Cop
Thank you (through tears) -Me
Have a good night Ma'm -Cop
Silent prayer for the nice man-Me

So I was saved by screaming.
I'm sure that happens a lot, but thank you to that cop who realized I was not a crazy road rager, and I was in a disaster of screaming.

I won't brag of how many tickets I haven't gotten because if I do, I will get one. But I have been pulled over more than you can count on one hand, with no tickets. But I consider it blessed.

Over Christmas we had our pictures taken. I think they turned out great. Although they aren't your beautiful Summer pictures, they are FROZEN tundra!
Miles was so cold. I just put him next to the heater right when we got inside.

Now we just have to have the Lubbock cotton fields pictures taken if we want to really fit in here!!!!

Celebs

I just discovered that the guitarist in the band Maroon 5, James Valentine has a sister. That is married to Brad's cousin. Wow. I feel so close to fame right now.

Brooke had a fun party for her birthday at our house. Our house is a little basement and nobody should have to live with cellar windows for too long, it gets depressing. But we are the middle man for family for parties, so every party is at our house...which I don't mind because in a few months family will be many many hours away. Tears.

Julie decorated the cake with oversized M & Ms. If you are wondering if we made fun of her, we did.

She turned 32!!

We let go of a very pretty baby.

Made a profit of 100 dollars and kept it a year, so we felt it was a good investment, but since Brad got this Fender Jaguar, we had to say, lets not get out of control with our guitars.
I love Brad, and so any new purchase, I am understanding and loving. Its a good hobby, a talent I respect and love. Also, such a life long thing. Well the Grammy's are playing in the background and maybe my goal of getting to bed before 10:30 will happen. Doubt it, since I'm married to Brad Clark who doesn't think anything past midnight is an okay time to go to bed. PS can you believe its already FEB!! Time is flying. And it snowed today. Loved it.

This morning began with tears..

I went outside to my Passat. Backed it out of the garage, and was going perfectly straight, my mirror was far away from the other car, the new tenants downstairs. Then I heard it, a small crunch. I began to shake. My stomach was in my mouth. My heart sank to my feet. I felt totally frozen. I got out of the car, ran inside and had my hands over my mouth. Brad saw my face and said, "Whatever you did, its okay honey."

That should have helped...but it didn't. I just began to cry and he grabbed me and held my head in his shoulders.
"What happened?"
"I hit their car."

"It's okay Brit, its okay, you are okay that is what matters."

"No its really bad, and I feel so stupid"
He looked at it, and said, "Oh babe! That's nothing, you are fine, I'll leave a note, call insurance everything, you just go to work."

See their car was parked on a small angle, so when I looked I didn't see their back end over their line. Me thinking I was going perfectly straight...I was, and scooted across their car a little bit with my car.
My car has zero damage, theirs has a small dent and black smudge, since their car is white.

I was too scared to finish backing out. Brad did that for me.
It ruined my day, I felt like I couldn't even teach. I couldn't even talk. I teared up all day long.

How could I be so stupid. I tried to think of stupid things other people had done to make me feel better.
All I could come up with are things that I did that were stupid. Like when I backed up a car into a pole, garbage can, and got the truck stuck in 3 feet of snow in a borrow pit.

I couldn't think of one stupid thing Brad has done. Proving that I am therefore the only idiot on this planet. To make things even better, when I got home I had this brilliant idea of making them cookies for backing into their car. I went to the store bought some supplies and a heart cookie cutter. Their door is down a long set of stairs right below my door. I dropped my bag of supplies and they tumbled down the stairs, the cookie cutter sliding right under the gap of their door. Great!!!!!! I just need to stay inside today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So then I began the panic phase. I knew they weren't home, but I had no idea when they would be home so I got right to work, I picked up all the stuff, then I went into my house and got two rulers and taped them together and to top it off I taped a sharpie to the end of that. I then went down to the bottom of their stairs and smashed my face against the tile and slid my contraption under their door trying to reach the cookie cutter.

Awesome, if I can't reach it they will come home and think what the heck is this cookie cutter doing? Then I will give them cookies and they will put it all together. I am just a true and blue spaz, thats what they will think of me if they don't already.

I slid the cookie cutter every which way, and after about 5 minutes of pure sweating I got it, ran upstairs and shut my door and locked it, hoping they wouldn't venture in and begin yelling and swearing at me for hitting their car.

I made cookies, they were hard....of course nothing can go right for me in this day its already bad luckified.

I put them at their door, and prayed they wouldn't hate me, and that maybe they wouldn't try the hard cookies and just accept the gesture as kind. My panic attacks inside of me have eased a little, but I still feel like a moron, idiot and moron as I texted Brad 19 times today.

I'm going to bed early hoping tomorrow will be one of those days where its like "How can so many good things happen to me in one day" kinda day.

Brad reminded me of why I married him today, he doesn't freak out and get mad. He is just chill and its okay...even when in my mind, its not! It is the end of the world!

He said, "Its just a possession, you are alive, that is the most important thing."
And then I thought....is he human?

Success in many things

Things are going better. I don't feel so stressed and uptight.
I don't cry when Brad tells me he likes it when I do the laundry..meaning he hates it when I don't do the laundry. Doing the laundry means folding the laundry, because we don't really have a washer and dryer to physically do the laundry...

I feel....like I can do this.

Two and 1/2 weeks left of student teaching. I can do this.

Tomorrow is a big day. I have an observation, then I have class, then I have a game.

A game where its the tournament.

And then Friday is a big day too.

Brad, and tentative others are coming to play at my school.

Not like play on the playground...
but like play in the band play.

Brad, electric guitar and vocals
Aj, acoustic guitar and vocals
Aaron, drums and vocals

for 80 second graders. I'll take a video :)

Tomorrow I'm going to talk to them about music, being in a band and all that good stuff...kinda as an intro to the band.

Summer told me to stop doing so many spaces on my blog. She said just to write longer paragraphs, that would help her focus better. So I'm trying Summer, I really am. Look I did almost oup there we go 3 lines.

But paragraphs aren't real life, choppy short sentences are real life, because every thought I have is interrupted by another one..in my own head, then I teach 8 year olds and they can't sit still if their entire life and family's life and dog's life depended on it, so my thoughts are constantly interrupted. So the fact is...I'm trying to stay focused longer.

Gosh that was a long paragraph. Golly jeepers. Okay, we went to Park City awhile back. Boy did we love it. Kelly and Natalie and Liz were our friends who invited us. Thanks again Kelly. . We loved it!

Kelly and Natalie seem to be excited that I am taking the picture but Natalie just wants it to be over so she can eat her chicken finger. Chicken's don't have fingers, so that term should be voided.
She finally got the chicken finger, now she has distracted Kelly in order to take his fries.
Oh goodness, she got the fries and now Kelly is mad, but he cannot show his madness on camera so he suppresses his anger using techniques he learned from AM. Thats Anger Management class.
Natalie pretends that it was a joke, that it was all fun, Kelly laughs to appease the cameras but really he is so angry inside.

But seriously, they are dating and in love. Can I say that on here? Can I? Is that okay? I said it..
Enough about Natalie and Kelly. More about me....and Brad. I went down a black diamond. I lost my ski in slow motion. Brad only laughed. I hate modules. Wait, mojuls. Whatever.

You see,
I had to pee,
so I stepped into the stall to wee,
then I pulled down my britches and said yipee,
finally I can pee!
Then something happened you see,
suddenly who would come in but another SHE!
I was very naked and said ahhhhhhheeeee!!!
The she could do nothing but say Sorreeeeeeeee!!
That's what happened to me,
when I had to pee.

Pretty sure she saw everything...but we are all girls right? Me holding feminine products wasn't too traumatizing for her right?

Was that too much info? Oh gosh I should have stopped with the pee poem.

Regardless, I took some ski footage. While skiing.

And, I really like avocados.

They did it!!

We have been happily married for 233 days. Holy Smokey Bear. Thats a long time. Didn't even know it went by so stinkin fast.
Cutting cake. Oh so delish cake. We have it on our kitchen table right now, Brad saw this picture and ran to take a bite. Pudding in the middle and perfect icing on top. They didn't shove very much I was completely disappointed.
Sisters, sisters, better stay away from those misters. Whatever all of us have a mister now but Sally, Echo and Faith. Faith better not get a mister for at least 18 years. My mom made our scarves and the little girls skirts. Mama's got Talent.

Well didn't I marry the most handsome man ever? This was in the waiting room. No worries Brooke only took an hour to get ready, maybe she cried off her make up. That's what I did.

The ceremony was beautiful. Brooke was beautiful, her dress was beautiful. Aaron wasn't so bad himself. But mostly I love hearing the wedding ceremony, reminds me of mine, and how perfect it was.
There was a dance party at the reception. Faith was so tired but she wanted to dance. Brad was the danceaholic. I rocked out for hours, got sweaty and tired.

Baby Ashtyn and aunt Raquel were so tired after all the dancing and eating and standing. Hannah made the adorable headband.

The wedding festivities are over, and the long weekend is over, but I finally feel like I caught up on sleep. I love naps. Love love love love love sleeping in till ten. That's all going to end tomorrow at 7 Am.

I took two weeks off of work so I could focus on lead teaching, I am so grateful because working nights would bring me to tears every time I left Brad. Its like I go to work all day, then I come home eat in thirty minutes and go to work again. So it will be nice to have a break and finish my Teacher Work Sample. Oh ya, didn't work on it one drop this week.

Cheers!

Sister...Mister

My sister is getting married.

To a mister this weekend.

We love the mister.

He is quite handsome.

It's weird though, because I have always thought that she was like...my role model, my example, but now she is older than me and getting married.

But trust me...its time.

I tease him that he just wants citizenship.

I don't think he thinks its funny.

He may laugh and then quickly and abruptly and awkwardly change the subject.

"Ahhhahaaa funny Brit, anyway how have you guys been"

That sounds like him. Actually just like him.

But, I love my sister Brooke, and I don't think I would treat him nicely if he didn't treat her nicely.

I even bought him some nice lingerie for him.

Actually she wears it, but let's be honest...its for him.

And her because she likes black and gray. Surprisingly she is wearing blue in the above picture, but thats just because we were on a hike, and she didn't care about the shirt, therefore proving my point of her liking black and gray.

Gray. And our friend Julie.

Wow, I was surprised to see this hat with a touch of pink and red, but gray scarf and dark blue jacket that looks gray, and gray scarf. Told you so.

So she is getting married.

Friday.

In Salt Lake.

I love her to death and am going to her bridal shower tommorow.

My goal is to get her to wear lime green....

Probably a dead goal already.

HA, joke, she always looks classy :)

Ps..I know you want to see this picture of me at ruins in Huancayo Peru.

Duh....I knew you did. Check out that blue sky. Wish we had one of those lately.

Loves....... My trip to Peru.

Loves.......Brooke.

Loves....Kindergarteners.

Cutest thing ever today, the sweetest little girl in the class was telling me about how her and her sister share all their clothes except birthday clothes.

I said, "Oh that is so nice of you."

She said, "Actually we do share birthday clothes, and my Grandma told me that when Jesus sent me he didn't send one mean bone in my body."

I said, "Amen to that."

She really is the most selfless person I have ever met, and she is five.

That's inspiration.
